An American Hero
In an age when most Americans look at athletes as heroes, we seem to forget the men and women in uniform who are at the tip of the spear. Today, Salvatore Giunta was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama for his “gallantry in action” and “great personal bravery” in a battle in Afghanistan during which he saved an injured fellow soldier being dragged away by the Taliban. Giunta is the first living soldier since the Vietnam War to receive the highest military honor our country can bestow. It is soldiers like Salvatore Giunta who truly capture the American spirit.
To learn more about our military heroes, please take a look at Citizens United’s tribute to our men and women in uniform “Perfect Valor,” narrated by Senator Fred Thompson. The stories of our brave men and women are told in their own words in vivid fashion.
